It's easy for them to do. New systems will only come pre-loaded with Vista
and eventually newer ( must have ) devices will have drivers that only work
with the new operating system. Instant obsolescence. It may take up to
five years or so to snag the diehards but eventually most will be forced to
succumb.
I'd like to see a scenario where Linux puts up some strong obstacle to that
scenario but so far it hasn't happened and the world wide attempt at DRM
legislation looks like it's strengthening which could blunt any impact
Linux might have ( software thru legislation )
