If it is the 1st nintendo's that came out, The reason the lights are flashing 
is because it need's to be cleaned, Here is what you need to do to fix it, 
Get a rag, some alcahol and put the alcahol on the rag then wipe the games 
where they go in the machine, After that allow them to dry 3-5 minutes, If 
that doesn't do it then you need to take the game apart and clean where the 
game connects to the board of the nintendo.. you can also buy a cleaning kit 
for nintendo.. When they made the 1st nintendo games and machine it was not 
made very well.. But if you are unable to take it apart you can buy a 
cleaning kit, That will do it all for you..
