03 Aug 97 14:07, Puleeeeze Brer Mike Eyre, Dooooon't trow 396 Malibu.. '79!
in dat der Briar Patch!
 ME> A buddy of mine just picked up a 1979 Malibu 4 speed 396ci,
ME> with 3.73 posi in the rear.. damned neat car! Thing'll sit
ME> there and smoke 'em in first, burn right through second, then
ME> squeal the tires for a hundred feet in 3rd and take off like a
ME> bastard. The install of this motor is sweet, too.. looks like
ME> it was MADE to go in there. Figured I'd let ya's all know
ME> about this thing cause you'd get a kick out of it.. I sure
 ME> did! :)
When I was looking around (1989-90) for an engine for my Firebird, I ran
across a guy with a 78-79 El Camino which had a BB in it. In California, it
wouldn't be smog legal to put that engine in there. This guy preserved the
SB and R&R'd it every two years to pass smog.
Since you like Camaro's, here's another. A friend of mine here in SD has an
82-84 Berlinetta with a 396ci/350turbo in it. Smog legal, it got
grandfathered in under some mistake that the CARB made a while back.
It's for sale...:)
... Farfromfignewton: A long way 'til the next cookie.
