S> I'm just remarking about what I saw as an undergrad at two MS>colleges, and what my father saw teaching at those two colleges. MS>Not only my father, but other profs had trouble with students coming MS>to class stoned or just cutting class. I believe you when you say you saw these things. No one is disputing that. There is no dispute that in some college some where there are serious problems, like the ones you have described. But you over generalize when you lump colleges and college students together and draw conclusions based upon your limited experience. The problems you describe are not the norm. MS> "Anecdotal accounts" do say what the observer saw, unless he is MS> lying. Neither my father nor I are lying about the discipline MS>problems commonly faced by profs in small private colleges. Again, an over generalization. True your father faced some discipline problems as a prof -- in HIS college--. But you deceive yourself and others when you say this was common. Statistically how many college students are we taking about? 5%?? 10%?? higher? Lower?? According to your reasoning then, you were a drunken college student who passed because of the pressure of the administration, not because of good grades. As a dope head, you learned little except how to avoid work and your degree is worthless. In addition to your drinking problem in college, you were a constant discipline problem and the professors were unable to do anything about it (because the administration blamed them and not you). Doesn't say much for you now does it? So are you including yourself in that group or are you an exception?? Glad I earned my degree...both of them....
