You are so right Zaynab - I am reminded of the saying of a quite famous
Teacher who lived almost exactly 2000 years and even though some would
say that His teachings have been obliterated by the (back) passage of
time yet he highlighted exactly what you have said when he told those
around Him that there were many things which He yet had to tell them
which they were not yet able to bear......never could get a straight
answer from the present incumbents of 'the shoes of the fisherman' just
what these things are and who has ever been ready to 'bear'.
Still, in the Spirit of the 12 Steps I have found much that I am now
able to bear which I definitely could not bear prior to my taking that
all important 1st Step which now enables my growth Steps in 10, 11 and
12.
Accepting the word 'God' as a Higher Power of your own conception:-
        God grant me the serenity to accept the things I
        cannot change - courage to change the things I can
        and wisdom to know the difference.
