This is the Parrot ECHO, not a local conference that originates on the
bbs you use. This echo is for the discussion of exotic birds as pets or
as breeder birds, and we are transmitted internationally via the Fidonet
backbone system. There are hundreds of such echos on many different
topics, from fish to birds, to car racing, to health issues, etc. I'm
the moderator of this particular echo--the moderator is like a cross
between a traffic cop and god. 
If you're still confused about the difference between local conferences
and Echoes, you might want to ask your sysop for a more thorough
explanation--this echo isn't really the place for it. BUT--if you have
birds and want to stick around to talk about them, please make yourself
at home!
