        That goes without saying, but the game industry has been 
manufacturing Mario-clones for so *years* - ever since the early 80's!
        I think side-scrolling action games have no future.  They're too 
simplisitic, and too non-immersive.  As I see it the only solid uses for 2D 
in games these days is in isometric action (in the style of Syndicate and 
Crusader: No Remorse), strategy, and adventure.
