I suspect you are reading/writing messages online. Which is 'expensive' 
unless you pay the phone company only a fixed amount of money per call.
An offline reader is much more convenient that way. And AFAIK any Maximus BBS 
supports QWK type offline readers, such as "Offline v1.58" which I used for 
years until a few weeks ago.
And one of the other pleasant things of offline readers is that you usually 
can configure them to use external editors for writing messages. Such as WP's 
ED from the old WP Office package (not PerfectOffice!!!) and WP6dos. Even 
WPdos itself could be used as long as you save the results as ascii.
So ask you sysop about the possibilities. Maybe I can help too with setting 
things up just right -- but use email as that is too much off topic here. I 
then need to know your correct email address though, unless your return 
address is correct ;-)
