Yep, I knew that problem about 3 years ago (not surprising since
Pac Power in Albany serves us both, although my grid is TOTALLY
down more often than yours). The easy solution is to run a UPS
on the BBS! :-)
If you're running the 28.8k/33.6k units (VFC or V34) the
other solution is to run a 8.25 to 8.75 VDC regulated supply
with a BIG cap on the output (6,800uF or bigger). There's
a full-wave bridge on the power for those modems. One thing
to remember is that the modems signal ground / serial / chassis
ground is connected to one side of the incoming power, so you
really want to use an isolated supply.
