If you want to spend a bunch of money, theres an aftermarket supplier that
makes a replacement upper control arm to compensate for the difference in
spindle height. Check magazine ads in various Chevy specific magazines.

Autowreckers will be cheaper. most definately. If you got web access, pay a
visit to http://www.real.on.ca/~leadfoot I've got ramblings of putting
front disc brakes onto a Nova.
What you'll need to find is a pre 73 Fullsize GM vehicle with multipeice
disc brake hardware. (The steering knuckles bolt to the spindle, along with
the caliper bracket and everything else) Preferably something with a single
piston caliper (which puts you around the 70's for a donor)
The fullsize GM's are front steer (steering knuckles point to the front
bumper) as is your Impala(?).
X-body and 1st gen F-body are virtually identical EXCEPT these are
rear-steer units and your on your own to find backing plates, along with the
fact you will have to unbolt the works and swap things from left to right
and right to left to convert it to front steer.
If you find a donor, get all the parts. Proportioning valve, (!!Cut the
lines running to the brakes to retain the flare nut fittings, as you'll need
to re-do a couple fittings on your existing car!!) proportioning valve
bracket, master cyclinder AND keep in one peice the lines running from the
proportioning valve to the master cylinder.
Rotors, calipers, master cylinder, brake hoses, bearings,
bearing seals are all available as remans or new.
Again, thats just the tip of the iceburg. If in doubt, take it from the
donor car.
