What... you throw batteries at your amplifiers to make the sound? ;-)
Speaking of throwing batteries, I rescued a cd/am/fm/dual-cassette
mini-stereo detachable speaker combo aka boombox from the garbage heap,
and it uses 8 "D" cells... now that's a battery hog! Something must have
fallen on it and crushed the cd player onto the main board cracking
it... an easy fix and it made a nice squawk box for the garden.
