| subject: | HELLO!? |
JK> heh... I am busy so that doesn't happen too often .. When I do get JK> in a funk it's typically because I'm just overtired, etc. That's when JK> I step back and take care of what's important, and let the rest slide JK> 'til I'm free. I think for me, knowing my limits and organizing my JK> time, makes a big difference in my outlook and feelings in general. Good advice thanks :) That's what is right to do and I know to do it but sometimes it is easier when reminded. JK> Over here, we have had a rule in the house for years and years: If it JK> bothers YOU, YOU clean it up .. works for me Hey! That's a new twist! :) JK> > What this comes from is whenever we go to a mall or to a festival I JK> > see so many healthy people who don't seem to have a trouble in the JK> > world. They probably do but not that you can see right off the bat. JK> Well, the first thing is we should all realize that 'looks' ARE JK> deceiving. There are plenty of people out there just like "us" who JK> have problems that don't show to the rest of the world. They sure are... JK> > I try to ignore the fact I can't hear. It's funny when I am alone I JK> > forget. When I'm on here I forget. I have to be careful out on walks JK> > for that reason. :) JK> I can understand how that could be a problem :( I'd be out walking my dogs and dare to relax, to enjoy the beautiful day and it never fails. When I do this some big black lab or other sort of dog comes charging out of nowhere ratting the heck out of all of us (me and my pups). Happed three or four times on walks... in different parts of the neighborhood (where we lived in Florida). SO I have to be more careful about paying attention. Save total relaxing for the back yard. :) JK> > Isn't it weird though? Given situations where we are not being JK> > constantly reminded of our disability, we're just like everybody JK> else. JK> Cindy, we ARE like everyone else :) We're human beings and that's JK> what counts :) :) We may do things differently than some others, but JK> that's really the big difference. :) Some days I just feel different though. Today in Abby btw someone asked about how to or if she should- help a little person (pc for dwarf/midget) if they seem to need help lifting an item out of the grocery cart to the check out counter. Abby said just as you did. "Little people are just like everybody, some will welcome help and others will say no. If they say 'no' try not to take it personally, don't feel rejected." Some people do have chips on their shoulders. That's their problem. If we offer help and they reject it well, at least we can come away knowing we DID offer and someday that person might appreciate the fact.
