I have considered this. I have not looked into the legality of
leaving a loaded firearm in a locked box in a vehicle, so I don't
know whether it would do the trick, legally.

I assumed that it was illegal to carry while intoxicated; isn't it?
In my case it is a different situation though, since I often work in
bars, and altough I am there to work, not to consume alcohol, I am
still prohibited from carrying. This is unfortunate, since I usually
carry upwards of $50,000 worth of sound gear to these places, and
would prefer to be armed. I guess you can't have everything, huh?
