If your friend already owns a BC and regulator, I would strongly recommend
bringing it. What if you got down there, and the dive shop didn't have
any BCD's that fit him? Or their regulators are a make/model that doesn't
perform as well as his own gear? He can always try renting their gear
just as a comparison, or if his own gear suffers some failure after
arrival. Besides, he will already be used to the fit and feel of personal
gear, especially the BCD, and be more comfortable in it.
