GEORGE ELTING was thinking about Help! Ideas Needed. and keyed into
cyberspace:
GE>MP>The critters that really irritated me when I was on the Board were
GE>MP>those who came down for the meeting one week before the budget
GE>MP>vote and complained about things that were not even in the
GE>MP>budget.
GE>MP>We had a lay budget committee, open to *any* resident, that had
GE>MP>spent ten four hour nights going over the budget line by line.
GE>MP>Every department had to justify the expenditure.
GE>MP>Then, the do-nothings/know-nothings popped out of the woodwork and
GE>MP>voted against a budget so the Board would "get the message".
GE>MP>I really pissed that crowd off at a meeting when I said that the
GE>MP>only message I got was that they were terminally ignorant.
GE>MP>"Spouting" about schools is easy for those who have no stake in
GE>MP>it. Most are clueless as to what is really going on.
GE>
GE> Those are the same folks that write letters to the editor of the
GE>local rag and make inaccurate statements about the district or the
GE>budget 2 days before the election... No time or way to rebut the
GE>statements! ARGH!!
George, it is not just "the rags". Forbes Magazine in August(?) 1996 had
an article about ADHD and MPH. One guy wrote in to the editor from a
town in Colorado. He said that 30% of the kids in the junior high were
taking MPH. Forbes published the letter.
However, the town only had one junior high. The principal read the
letter and asked the nurse for the statistics. Less than 20% of the
school was taking *any* type of med, and only 5% were taking MPH.
Forbes did not publish the principal's letter. It was posted to a
mailing list on usenet and got a pretty wide circulation.
GE> Stupidity and ignorance abound!
Yep, and it comes from those who are either know-nothings, or agenda
ridden.
The Few. The Proud. The Chosen.
