first make sure the networking works, can you ping the other machines and the router?
If yes, next I would go into the other machines printer properties and see
if both are talking direct to the printer or if one is acting as a print
server. Also under their port configuration for the printer if they are
using HP network port (dlc instead of tcp) see if they are set to job based
or continuous. They should be set as job based or they will grab hold of
the printer and not let go so you won't get a chance to connect to it.
Lastly, you could create a new printer port on your machine, pick local
port and type \\ipaddress of the print server for it's name, that may allow
you to connect (sometimes this works) as if it were a local printer.
