Quoting Larry Gault to Chuck Horn:

I seem to recall from an ACLU Q&A paper that they support the
"militia" interpretation of the Second Amendment. Since they don't
consider RKBA to be a Constitutional right it doesn't fit into
their mission. I don't agree with them, but like the other
Limbaugh Echo prohibited issues there is room for disagreement even
among conservatives. I don't think they've published an opinion on
the Third Amendment either. :)
Perhaps I didn't express myself well. The ACLU is univerally
villified by conservatives. They are also villified by many
liberals for their work defending the Klan and others on the far
right fringe. It seems to me that when they work for individual
freedoms and protection of the individual from unwarranted
interference by the State that they are embracing conservative
values. When they fight for the rights of the scummiest of the
scum they're helping to preserve rights for decent folks, too.
I have no doubt that most of their staff and most of their members
are liberals. That doesn't negate the good that they do. Heck, I
read this past week that one of my Republican Senators, Phil Gramm,
votes with the ACLU position 25% of the time.
