I've known that something was going on in the fido background for a long
time, some sort of power play between egotistical individuals, fighting for
control of a message system that has been dying for some years, now.


I've tried to find out what was happening through many channels, with little
success. On the one hand, we have Dale Ross quietly taking over various areas
of Fido hubs, BBS's and so forth.


On the other hand, we have Ross Cassell and Steve Quarrella (and who knows
who else) fighting Dale Ross tooth and nail, fighting for control of their
own, on their own terms.


Recently, I sent you an e-mail trying to get a different view of whats going
on. I already `have' the view of the Dale Ross faction, but it isn't fair or
even sensible to base an opinion one way or the other on just the view of one
side of the argument.


For whatever reason of your own you didn't deign to answer my e-mail, even to
tell me to get stuffed! I supose you consider me *one of them* in this silly
fight (and it `is' silly, about the silliest I've seen in a long time).


Quite by accident, I recently ran across some message traffic that is very
revealing of `both sides', and if you read the *entire* thread from beginning
to end, starting from when this whole stupid situation began up to the
present time, a sensible person has to come up with the conclusion that a lot
of people who are now engaging in a stupid-assed power grab, in a message
system that is (and has been for several years) in its death throes, need to
get out more and get some fresh air.


At the very least, several of you need to change your aims in this computer
on-line `hobby', and use some of the search engines available on the Net to
delve into a different aspect of on-line computer use.


I'm gonna leave Fido, as of now. Whatever messages I uploaded this morning
are about the last I will partake of Fido henceforth. Its just getting much
too silly. There's more backstabbing going on behind the scenes than in a
good Shakespearean tragedy. To read some of the messages in this thread,
you'd think there was a gigantic (and reeeeaaalll important) investigation
under way, about something that was `earth' shaking. You have to shake your
head real sharply to remember that this BS is all about a control-fight over
a dinosaur of a message system, and all the participants are themselves
nothing but hangers-on of a by-gone era. And it suddenly dawned on me that,
were I to take part in any of this, I too would be no better than the bunch
of has-been power brokers who now engaged in a fight over `nothing'. And I'm
better than that.



I'll still read some of the echoes, probably early in the morning when I get
up. But I'm not gonna post messages or respond to the inevitable sniper shots
that will be taken at my back as I exit. Have to have something to do at 5:AM
while waiting for time to go to work.


It"ll be interesting to watch this play itself out. But I'm not going to take
any part in it, on `either' side. One big reason is that I have much better
things to do with my time than engage in this BS anymore. And thats what Fido
mostly is, anymore; a bunch of BS.


But the main reason is that I may not be anyone real important, either in
Fido or other places; but I'm `way' above this shit.


By the way, before you get your shit hot about me posting a message in here I
have not previously been banned  from this echo. It has been probably a year
or so since I've posted in here, but I did not leave because I was banned. I
left of my own choice. Just like I'm leaving Fido. Oh yeah, I'm gonna
cross-post this into Pol_Inc and a few other echoes, `cause I want everybody
to see it. And I left Pol_Inc the same way I left this echo as well, of my
own accord.
