With an 18 year old and a 20 year old I don't worry too much about it
one way or the other but I do understand the parents of younger children
concerns. I also believe it is their responsibility to monitor their
children's activities just as I did and apparently you do. I would agree
that the only thing I personally have run into is text based and when I
am looking for newsgroup information. Photo's or other material I have
yet to see other than when I visit art gallaries ect.
Our local school district has now had access available for two years and
other than some of the kids mudding excessively do not seem to have a
problem. Some of the adults have had objection to material they
downloaded and displayed as to what was available if the children wanted
to access it. They were quickly silenced when it was pointed out that
the key was they actually went looking for it, downloaded the file and
displayed it after decoding. The potential for abuse is in the system
just as it is in the education system in general. Buyer beware is still
the best policy IMO.
