The DOSX version does work OK here (under Windows 2000).

Can you tell me if running "wimm -h" from the command prompt
crashes? If so, it's probably an issue with the DOS extender and your OS. 
If not, and it just crashes when you run WIMM without any arguments, it's
probably a bug in WIMM, in which case it may be that it doesn't have enough
stack space (which requires a recompile).  From there, you can try trimming
your config files (wimm.cfg and squish.cfg) down to the bare minimum that
causes the crash.
