Hi Brett,
-----------------------------------
JP> I have a 240v-to-115v stepdown transformer for sale,
JP> older style case but rated at 600 VA. ( thats 5 1/2 amps ! )
JP> Asking around $160-
BM> Try the maths again Jeff. It's 2.5 Amps!
-----------------------------------
Well you could check your calculator rather than your fingers, :>
VA is the AC equiv. of Watts, power in a circuit is expressed as
P = E X I where P = Watts - E = Volts - I = Amps this can also be
expressed as I = P/E
therefore; 600VA / 115v = 5.2173913 amps, ( I did a mental approx
on the original figures )
however this would DRAW 2.6 amps from the 240v supply plus a little
due to core losses etc. in the transformer,
But to get back on topic :> I also have a stepdown multi-tap available,
input 240v output 100 to 127v at around 400 va, asking $100
Regards
Jeff
