Hello Henri,
LL>>> This email has been checked for viruses by AVG.
WD>> I'm wondering ... how many virusses can there be in a Fidonet message
WD>> ... except for the message itself ... of course....
HD> The reply of a virus checker under every messages is completely useless.
I agree. But it is something that is apparently beyond my control.
HD> The (real) moderator should forbid that.
And how, pray tell, would any moderator be able to force a company
to do his/her bidding?
HD> A anti virus program should work silently and only log to its onwer,
HD> i.e. in a log file, not to the public.
The option not to use an anti virus program is not an option.
Not a viable option, unless one wants an infected computer.
HD> And second, FidoNet's EchoMail E-Mail.
How does a participant go about participating in a forum if
he/she is unable to protect his/her system from viruses?
Reverting to snail mail is not an option. Except for prison
inmates, and those in the loony bin.
HD> As my message to lc ml did not help to stop writing the same sentence
under
HD> every msg for years now, I have stopped asking them to do so.
Would you have unprotected sex with a total stranger?
Some people would. And enjoy it. But they also might
not live very long, for obvious reasons.
HD> That's why I did not ask LL to stop mentioning his virus rule.
It is not my rule, or even my idea, to have an unwanted message
at the bottom of every message I post.
HD> The only thing left is the next message key ;-(.
Or an effort to figure out how to solve the problem. Which is
apparently not your strong suit.
HD> But still it is wasting of transportation bandwith and harddisk storage
HD> room.
If everybody thought like you, there would be no participants
at all in fidonet.
