Hi Rob,
RD-> HG> In a message dated 03-18-98, Rob Dennis said to Holger Granholm:
RD-> Here we have been getting the El Nino effect of -very- strange
RD->weather since christmas time.
Well, you know there has been "strange" weather long before everybody
started to blame everything on El Ni¤o or global warming.
They are just long time variations of the climate.
RD-> Just today we had nice warm sunny weather while Calgary (out
RD->western Canada) got their butts kicked by a late winter/early
RD->spring blizzard.
Yeah I know, but things like that has happened many times b4.
RD-> HG> For my W0WO antenna I'm using copper clad insulated telephone
RD-> HG> line
RD-> Is this a four-line phone wire or something different?
Nope, it's a two-wire phone line for outdoor use, like bringing in a
single subscriber line from the pole to your house.
RD-> Canadian and European phone systems being different,I wonder if
I guess they are different everywhere. There's nothing like standards.
Everybody can pick his own "standard"!
RD-> Our wires are four to make up one line,and some are stranded some
RD->are not.
Yeah, the normal in-house wiring here too is carried in a four wire
cable but it allows for two subscriber lines.
RD-> I'm going over to the scrapper this weekend looking t0 get about
RD->150 feet of solid copper wire to us in making my new 80 and 160
RD->dipole.
Good luck.
RD-> I'd like to get insulated copper,and see how long it will last,but
RD->most of what he has is non-insulated.
The only thing you'll have to remember when making antennas from insu-
lated wire is that the correct length comes out a bit shorter.
