No, I said my amplifiers do NOT make much noise at all.

Ah, forget it. It was a joke, based on the common misconception
that the "noise" comes from the amplifers rather than from the
loudspeakers.

Yep. I have a couple that were thow-outs because the inbuilt
cassette mechanism had "died", and the battery terminals had
corroded in one of them as well. But they work well on their
mains power inputs. One is in the workshop, the other one by my
computer.
