possibility. However from what I'm reading this is a corp wide directive
from Gates so it will probably be like how they added internet capabilities

Seems to me to be a really STUPID idea as ad supported software is hardly
viable and it's free, if they plan to charge for software that displays
ads.. well that should about be enough to start a mass migration to Linux.

OTOH, if they plan to offer free versions of windows and office with ads or
you can pay for the ad free versions as a way to get china to stop illegal
versions, this might work. It all depends on what they have in mind and at
this point I really don't know what the heck they are thinking.
