The solution to that is to build an abbatoir.

I remember getting caribou in Dettah one year and we pick up moose meat or
sheep from neighbours but there is no commercial traffic. Why pay for meat
which may be of questionable quality.

I never thought of Nunavut as having high "sin" taxes as all I've
ever had there is drinks in the Frobe or another hotel or in the Legion and
I didn't stay around long enough to find out how the permit system worked.
But to pay high "sin" taxes and not even have access to a liquor
store is too much.:-(
And in the case of the NWT, I did find the price of single malt scotches
comparable to ours so I picked up a bottle of Laphroaig.
