Lucked out on a unique one this afternoon. was coming back from Henrietta,
and saw a westbound freight while going across the overpass at Howard Rd.
Power wasn't really anything notable, maybe just 2 six axle units, was
heading
towards home so I decided to head down Chili Ave and see if I could intercept
it
at Attridge. Well, I didn't have the scanner active so I didn't have any idea

if they had gotten ahead of me but I made the loop across Attridge, and
around
Savage with nothing happening. I was also looking for Ron, who likes to hang
out
in the late afternoon at Sanford Rd, so I headed around that way. Well, that
freight
was just fast enough that I caught it just after the power went across
Sanford.
I must have been just missing that thing at every crossing! Well, it was a
big one, and it had 4 B23-7's as pushers on the tail, with an axle count
(finally
turned on the scanner) of 626 (or so) axles. The "Beaten Twenty-threes"
shoving
hard on the tail made it worth it all. I think it was an SYBU, as I'd heard
the dispatcher talking to that crew a few hours earlier about a pickup at
Rochester of 34 cars. I figure the 23's were the local power and they needed
the extra power to make it. That would work out to 147 cars, and it looked
like it was pretty even loads and empties, so 2 six axles wouldn't have
been enough power for that tonnage.

Well, take care. See ya trackside sometime.
