FC> The majority of my experiances with RS have been good. I bought
FC> one
FC> of their handheld frequency counters and took it home. I used it
FC> for
FC> a few hours and put it away for a couple of days. When I went back
FC> to
FC> use it it wouldn't come on - I replaced the batteries, etc, but no
FC> luck. I took it back, but was a bit worried about getting it
FC> replaced
FC> - I had (as is my usual practice) engraved my driver's license on
FC> it.
FC> So, I walked in, and explained the problem to the salesman. He
FC> replaced the batteries, etc, and it still didn't work. I pointed
FC> out
FC> to him my engraving. He said that they would have to send it to
FC> get
FC> repaired, instead of replace it on the spot, because of that. The
FC> manager, who was standing nearby heard him, and came over. He
FC> looked
FC> at it, said "No, we can take care of this right now." He got a new
FC> one from the box, made sure it worked, and took the guts out of the
FC> broken one and replaced them with the guts of the new one. He
FC> tested
FC> it again, said "Here you go, sir - any problems briing it back."
The problem with RS stuff isn't their excellent policy on returns of
defective merchandise: it is that too much of their stuff goes bad and makes
buyers waste their time bringing it back.
