NASA ANNOUNCES HARRIETT G. JENKINS FELLOWSHIPS
NASA selected 21 Harriett G. Jenkins Pre-doctoral
Fellowship Program awardees for 2003. The program provides
financial support to full-time, under represented graduate
students in science, technology and education, to continue
their education in NASA-related disciplines.
The fellowships include an annual 10-week, hands-on research
experience at a NASA center. Fellowship tenure is three years
for doctoral candidates or two years for masters' candidates
in several NASA-related fields, including aeronautics,
astronomy, biology, Earth sciences, computer science,
mathematics, physics and engineering.
This year's Jenkins Pre-doctoral Fellows with their current
and graduate institutions:

"The Jenkins Pre-doctoral Fellowship Program provides NASA a
prime opportunity to inspire under represented students to
continue their studies in science, technology, engineering
and mathematics, and thus enable their future careers in
those disciplines," said Dr. Adena Williams Loston, NASA's
associate administrator for education. "We must work to
ensure that we have a talented and diverse workforce to
continue the outstanding legacy of NASA's current scientists,
engineers, physicists and astronauts," she said.
The United Negro College Fund Special Programs Corporation
administers NASA's Jenkins Pre-doctoral Fellowship Program.
