Because I don't have an obviously Jewish surname (it's actually from
"Hillel" rather than those things you climb), I've heard more than a
few anti-Semitic comments from people who didn't know I was part
Jewish. At one job, the department secretary handed me a sheet of "Jew
jokes." Really got her on my good side, I tell ya . . .
