The majority of my experiances with RS have been good. I bought one
of their handheld frequency counters and took it home. I used it for
a few hours and put it away for a couple of days. When I went back to
use it it wouldn't come on - I replaced the batteries, etc, but no
luck. I took it back, but was a bit worried about getting it replaced
- I had (as is my usual practice) engraved my driver's license on it.
So, I walked in, and explained the problem to the salesman. He
replaced the batteries, etc, and it still didn't work. I pointed out
to him my engraving. He said that they would have to send it to get
repaired, instead of replace it on the spot, because of that. The
manager, who was standing nearby heard him, and came over. He looked
at it, said "No, we can take care of this right now." He got a new
one from the box, made sure it worked, and took the guts out of the
broken one and replaced them with the guts of the new one. He tested
it again, said "Here you go, sir - any problems briing it back." They
sent the broken one back to the factory in the new case.
