Yep, my dyno dates from the mid 60's. I've babied its bearings all this time. The rotor is a fat hockey puck shaped magnet. It's not exactly constant voltage but above a certain speed it flattens out somewhat. But lamps tend to be constant power devices anyway, and so they accomodate a lot of the voltage range by themselves. There are special bicycle lights with more robust filaments. These are the larger frosted glass bulb type. I tried a cheap #47 but they burn out too easily. But right now I'm using a Krypton 6V latern lamp. When pedalling you can feel the threshold when the gas cycle kicks in as the filament warms up to temperature. The brightness is so awesome though! Might try switching to Nimh if I get tired of pedalling... ;-) Mike **** ... Dunno if we'll get that past the CSA und UL 'owever. --- Blue Wave/DOS v2.30* Origin: Juxtaposition BBS, Telnet:juxtaposition.dynip.com (1:167/133) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 167/133 379/1 106/1 2000 633/267 |
