BB>PM> BB>PM> Did you issue AT&F2&W&W1Z and cycle power after

BB>PM> BB>The instructions recommend that (and so do I).
BB>PM> BB>But I always wondered....
BB>PM> BB>What if you don't issue that AT cmd, and/or don't power down?
BB>PM> BB>What will happen? The old ROM has already been overwritten.
BB>PM> BB>It's gone. It can't still possibly be in place.
BB>PM> The new ROM in place, but the "program" calling it may
BB>PM> still be the old one (or part of it). Also, the profile

BB>PM> the old code. So you could have told the old code to
BB>PM> answer on the first ring (S0=1), but in the new code
BB>PM> that memory location might be used to force 300bps
BB>PM> carriers.
BB>Wouldn't that mean I would have to change my S0 setting on my

BB>I was wondering why the *MODEM* needs to be powered up/down.
BB>(Not my computer, or terminal prg changes.)
You shouldn't have to change the software on the computer.
I was talking about the software in the modem. The modem
is basically a small computer that knows a limitted instruction
set and handles a few special formulas *VERY* well.
