Subj: Marine SITOR FREQS.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Guys, I have not posted these marine digital freqs. in
quite a while and have received a few requests again for them.
Those of you who are beginners using Hamcom, etc. to decode digital
comms or those new to digital decoding will find these freqs useful
because none of these freqs with traffic will be encripted and should
be easy to copy. Baud Rate settings should be 100 Baud.
If you hear what sounds like chirp chirp chirp... sounds this will
be Sitor ARQ mode. Chirp copy is usually heard when the station is
actually connected to vessels sending and receiving messages. Note:
you may have to tune up or down just a little bit to be tuned to the
station correctly to get good copy. It takes a little bit of practic
but should be pretty easy for ya.
If you hear what sounds like continues digital sounds carriers
with no break in digital sound the mode will be FEC mode. These sounds
will be heard when either the marine coast stations are actually
transmitting Weather or traffic lists and/or info to any stations
which might be listening for traffic lists to ships FEC is used for
information broadcasts from the coast station. Ships do not usually
broadcast or communicate in FEC.
Also please note: Many of the coast stations will continually
broadcast ID CW/Sitor markers and change modes repeatidly when they
are idiling and waiting for traffic. When they are Idling you will
probably not be able to decode their Id's as they keep changing modes
but you will be hearing them well. If you wait long enough on a Coast
Station frequency they will finally start broadcasting messages either
in ARQ or FEC. Also on some coast station freqs. the coast stations
will broadcast information all kinds of other info like their
broadcast schedules, a bit of news etc.
I am updating these frequencies to also include the ITU channel
numbers and when I do will repost this list with the updates.
