TR>This makes perfect sense to me. My department has worked closely with
Amateu
TR>Radio Clubs for years during disasters and other emergencies. We even have
a
TR>plan for the Amateur Radio Clubs to handle our communications if our
primary
TR>methods are destroyed or go down for some other reason. We've worked
togethe
TR>many times, especially during storm season. Find a way to enjoy Florida
just
TR>a little bit.
Several area ham radio operators also work in law enforcement...we normally
"frown" on "10-codes" on Ham Radio...but can understand the occasional slip
by these individuals.
I fly out of Little Rock Easter Sunday afternoon around 5pm, then get into
Orlando around 10:30pm. By the time I get checked in, etc., it'll be after
midnight before I get to bed. I told the State Attorney of my concern that
I'd have to be to the courthouse EARLY Monday...she replied that "I'd get to
sleep in"...as they have to pick a jury. Being an active juror, I know that
can take awhile...or not long at all. At least I'm not going down there when
hurricane season is active...but I'm afraid I'll have to fly through
thunderstorms on the way back to Little Rock. I hope it's less humid than it
was when I was down there last June.
