 Ed I have had similiar problems with my TS-530S.
 Turned out to be a dirty band switch was the culprit,and after I had cleaned 
that switch it started to do it again.
 I had to clean the main power switch as well to solve the problem for good.
 Now I make it a habit to do it once every 6 months and the problem has yet 
to come back again.
 Just a thought.
