Sounds like something similar to the old TS-120 I had... multiple problems,
there - bad ground (repair was using "star" washers, under the screwheads for
better ground contact), some broken/cold solder joints, and every plug was
molded in that critter... some of the pins had broken off on one of the
connectors (had to be re-soldered in place) etc... general nastyness...

If you only recieve signals when the receive pre-amp is on, you might think
about checking out the front-end of the receiver... Pin diodes have a nasty
habit over being over-loaded when the rig is turned on, and another
transmitter is operating, close by.

I wouldn't exactly sell the farm to fix the 102... but, there are some more
areas you can look into. :-)
