Assuming they're within the Pro-50's rather limited frequency ranges (e.g. 
you're not trying to program 800MHz or something), you shouldn't have a 
problem, the next thing that comes to mind is a processor fault.  Have you 
attempted entering a frequency that the scanner would accept and then doing a 
direct search down or up to your "valid frequencies"?  With a little fancy 
squelch work, you can stop on the desired freq and then put it in monitor 
memory, then transfer it to the desired channel.
