> Maximizer to my Dolby ProLogic system. I Like the sound of my system,
I listened to one a few weeks ago on a friends VERY EXPENSIVE home theater
system and didn't like the effect at all. It seemed like it artificially
boosted the upper midrange and lower treble beyond accurate ranges
...actually
.. to an irritating level, and introduced some very strange high freq noises
to the quieter passages of some chamber music we were listening too.
I have tried many of the gee-whiz add ons that advertised magical
properties and music, and with very few exceptions (such as outboard DACs,
etc) haven't found anything I would want in my system.
While I am a real sucker for gizmos and gadgets, I have come to agree with
some of the people here in the Echo that the least number of cables and
pieces
of gear your signal runs through, the better the sound.... as in the shortest
route between two places. While the Sonic Maximizer has gotten good reviews
in
mobile audio mags, home audio is not afflicted with many of the limitations
of
mobile audio. With a good home system there should be no need for it.
