JK> Yep, I see it here :( One of my labs is sooooo overweight.. but she's

foods are helping

Put her on a low fat dog food. That's what we have Cosmo on. Fat
reduced and don't give her people food (junk food that is). Especially
if they're not very active- a maintenance diet is better for them.

Does she like broccoli? When our vet in Titusville said Cosmo needed
to lose a few pounds suggested we offer cooked broccoli as a suppliant.
He likes it. It's a filler, doesn't bother them and satisfies their hunger.
Some dogs will eat fruit too and other veggies as well. Grapes, citrus
and onions however are a definite no no due to studies indicating they
may cause liver/kidney problems. (Note on this last bit: they'd have
to eat a LOT of those things to be harmed but I guess none is better
as a preventive tactic.

JK> I read somewhere that Lamb causes allergic reactions for dogs but I

hmm.. I'm keeping an eye on how they react to this food. Abbie had a
stomach ache yesterday but I don't think due to the dog food. I think
it may have been due to the greenie I gave her. These greenie things
have chlorophyll in them and I don't know what else. They don't bother
Cosmo though. I'm just going to keep an eye on how they react.

JK> have no idea if it's true.. I also read the best food you can give
JK> your dog is a pound of meat and several cups of rice.. ?? maybe.. I
JK> dunno.. the internet is full of someone giving others their opinion
 JK> .

There are sites online that sell real meat dogfoods. I agree I think
dogs would fare much better on real food. Vets (owned by chemical c
ompanies) say no way! real food can't possibly offer a balanced diet!
Gee how did dogs manage to survive for centuries without commercial dog
food then? People got along for centuries without processed food too.

We let our dogs have a bit of ground chuck or steak or chicken (no
seasonings) when I cook up those meats.

BTW: doghouse echo isn't doing very well.
