Nothing in this endangers life.
One of the Canadian characteristics I like the most is the ability to
turn impasse into humour. In the "Quebec question" we have a problem
that cannot possibly be resolved to the satisfaction of everyone. It
can't be solved, and it won't go away on its own - at least, not for
centuries. Back in the 1960s, a few people tried to resolve it with
violence, but that soon obviously made things worse. Nowadays, people
just shrug their shoulders and laugh about it. And that's okay.
-> Is there any vocal support group in Ontario for a change to MMP ?
Absolutely not! Almost nobody has heard of it, even now that the vote
is already taking place! (The official polling day is Oct 10, but the
"advance polls", which anyone is welcome to use if he's willing to
travel a bit to get to one, are open already.)
Maybe I'll go to an advance poll, to see what the question actually
says.
My feeling is that it's very unlikely that the proposition will
succeed, which is just fine.
