NASA Glenn Research Center Reopens General Public Access to Visitor
Center NASA Glenn Research Center's Visitor Center has resumed its
regular operations for general public access. Access to the Visitor
Center had been suspended to the general public on March 24 with only
prearranged groups being able to tour the Visitor Center.
Guests of all ages can come to Glenn's Visitor Center to learn more
about air and space travel while gaining a new perspective on the
universe in which we live. Visitors will be able to explore the
interactive exhibits located in 6 galleries covering 6,000 square
feet, including Aero Adventure: Innovating Tomorrow's Engines, John
Glenn: Tribute to an American Hero and Space Communications.
"Our Visitor Center provides a vital service to both the young and
young at heart who want to learn more about NASA," said Linda
Dukes-Campbell, chief of the community and Media Relations Office.
"We're really glad to be back at our normal operating level."
The Visitor Center also provides special weekend programming with
interesting lecturers and unique programs focusing on NASA's
missions. Visitors can learn about the International Space Station
and all its exciting activities, or as part of Glenn's celebration of
the Centennial of Flight, journey back in time to hear Orville and
Wilbur Wright discuss their various flight tests and other
experiments.
Admission to the Visitor Center is free and wheelchair accessible.
Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Saturdays
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.; and Sundays 1 - 5 p.m.
The Visitor Center is located inside Glenn's main gate. Visitors
should be advised that due to heightened security at Glenn, there may
be a slight delay upon entering the Center. A photo ID of all adult
visitors will be required and all vehicles are subject to inspection.
