| subject: | homebrewed ethernet/phone cable tester |
Hi all! I was wondering if anyone would know how to make a cable tester for ethernet/phone cables? I had a few ideas come to mind, but none of them really seem like they'd be all too accurate. My theory was to make something like a wire testor (the thing you clip to one side of a wire, and touch the tip to the other side and if there's a full connection, the handle will light up) for each of the 8 wires (ethernet) with a LED for each wire. If each wire has a full connection, all the LEDs will light. The problem is, I don't think that will work very well if the wires are out of sequence, they'd still light up.
