You need the Indexing Service running for several hours, while the computer
is idle (if the Indexing Service is off, the Search program tells you what
to do).

The Search tool is not of interest to general users, but is fantastically
useful for people with lots of files, particularly text files that you
might want to open in Notepad, or in some favourite editor; or you might
want to open the parent folder in Explorer or Command Prompt.
