Hi Robin - granted, this is not the "standard" career route if you are
in a large corporation where the job descriptions are cast in stone,
*BUT* if you are working in a smaller ( more flexible and innovative )
businesses, there will be a lot of opportunity for you to show your
interest. If the people there see that you are a "good worker" ie:
showing up on time, enthusiastic, willing to learn, etc... they will
check you out first when they need someone to fill a position rather
than going through the standard employment channels ( unless they need
specific skills )
The term for this position is "intern" and it happens a lot in most
media positions - recording studios, media production companies etc...
