Steve, according to the docs, Max does the following:
 When Maximus is invoked using "-r", it reads a file called
 restar##.bbs from the \max directory. The Errorlevel exit
 routines will write this file to disk just before Maximus
 executes the errorlevel command. The restar##.bbs file
 contains all of the information that Maximus needs to restart
 in its original state.
It may be looking for RESTAR##.BBS and not finding it for some reason.  Just 
something to look for.
