First thing I'll advise on one of these is not to go with the standard air 
pump filter that may come with the tank.  I recommend setting up an 
undergravel filter or using a Penguin 110 filter.  If money's not a big 
problem, run both.  Of course that's just my opinion and I'm sure others may 
disagree.

Your welcome.  And let me know how your daughter's tank turns out.  BTW, we 
threw a snail in my son's 2 1/2 gallon.  It seems to be happy, and the green 
patches are gone from the glass.
