The whole message thread has uncertainties.  Remember this is a case of an
OEM XP Home from a vendor who tanked.  It may or may not have been
BIOS-keyed.  At the point that Northgate went under, MS's requirements for
the throwaway OEM XP may have been different (inchoate?).

In any case this made an experience tech and a legitimate user both feel
like criminalized dirt.  Par for the course.

(And you think this stuff doesn't help our society go down the tubes?)
