From what I know of Amazons, it sounds to me as if he's begging for even
more attention.  I don't know much about conures but if he's not biting
in fear, and not because he's mad, then a nip now and then is probably
just showing how much he likes being with you.  Love him to pieces and
learn to trust him, and he'll bite you only GENTLY! 
Best thing I can say about my ringneck dove is that he NEVER bites me.
Cooing at 3 AM is marginal.....  But, not near as bad as an Amazon
waking up at six to greet the sun!  Two of 'em is FOUR times as bad.
