 thankyou for your prompt reply.  I have made a note of it and will try to 
put theory into practice now.  I think that once i figure out the basics the 
rest "should" fall into place.

looking at this, i assume a pointer to a structure could go in there?
Im thinking that maybe i should have got Visual Basic, ive got the shareware 
version (no docs, limited to 1 form) but it looks easy.  But i guess that if 
at first you dont succeed, bash it with the biggest hammer available.
